At the beginning of November, we mark the anniversary of the infamous Balfour Declaration, issued by the British government on November 2, 1917—an imperialist declaration that paved the way for the Zionist project in Palestine and led to more than a century of tragedy, displacement, and suffering for our Palestinian people. The promise of the colonialist criminal “Arthur Balfour” to the Zionist movement was the founding charter for its role as the watchdog of Western interests, and as a base of aggression, expansion, and wars against Palestine and the peoples of the region.
The Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, calls upon its organizations, and all supporters of Palestinian rights and resistance around the world, to consider the first week of November 2025 as a week of action and escalation, to highlight the historical responsibility of Britain and the United States for the ongoing Palestinian Nakba, and their direct role in establishing the Zionist entity, plundering the resources and wealth of the peoples of the region, and especially in whitewashing and justifying the crimes of “Israel” and supporting its criminal colonial policies in occupied Palestine and the region.
Since the Balfour Declaration of 1917 until today, Western colonial powers have formed the political, military, and economic foundation of the ongoing war of extermination and displacement that “Israel” wages against the Palestinian people. Through their continuous support for the criminal Zionist regime, their political protection of it in international institutions, and their direct participation in arming and funding genocide in the Gaza Strip and all of Palestine, these powers bear direct responsibility for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people and the peoples of our region, as well as for the continuation of settlement, forced displacement, wars of expansion, and the occupation of Arab lands in Lebanon and Syria.
Accordingly, the Movement calls on all Palestinian and Arab communities, as well as friends of the Palestinian people everywhere, to organize popular, political, cultural, and media events and activities to express their rejection of these ongoing policies and to demand accountability for the colonial powers for their historical crimes. This anniversary should be treated as an occasion to reaffirm support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to return and to self-determination on their national soil.
The Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement firmly rejects the so-called “two-state solution,” considering it an insufficient and, indeed, deceptive proposal that does nothing but entrench occupation, apartheid, displacement, and the ongoing violation of Palestinian rights. The just and only historical solution to this ongoing struggle, in our view, is the liberation of Palestine from the river to the sea, the end of the Zionist colonial regime, and the dismantling of its political, legal, security, and military system and its settler colonial institutions. We affirm that the path to that goal passes through the eradication and removal of the Zionist system from existence, and the building of a society of justice based on the absolute sovereignty of the Palestinian people over their homeland.
The anniversary of the Balfour Declaration is not merely an event of the past; it is a constant reminder of the international community’s responsibility to correct the historical crime committed against Palestine and its people for over a century. It is an annual occasion to renew our pledge to continue the revolutionary struggle against imperialism, Zionism, and their agents in the region and the world.
