The following solidarity message was sent to the Masar Badil conference in São Paulo, Brazil, by Dr. Basem Naim, member of the Political Bureau and head of international relations for Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement. The text in English is below (video above):
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Brothers and sisters, comrades, leaders, cadres, and members of the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path, first, we congratulate you on holding your conference in Brazil despite all the challenges and difficulties, and despite all the targeting of this alternative revolutionary path.
We see in you a glimmer of hope and a fundamental contribution to our people’s march toward freedom and independence, until the liberation of Palestine — all of Palestine, from the river to the sea — is achieved. Through you, we also send our greetings to the great people of Brazil, who have stood for decades in support of and advocacy for our oppressed Palestinian people and their just cause.
We also extend our greetings to all the peoples of the continent in Latin America, who share with us a rich tradition of revolution and rebellion against injustice, aggression, tyranny, and colonialism, and who have, in many places, succeeded in achieving their freedom—yet are still subjected to aggression and tyranny, as we have seen in recent days.
Here, we also send you greetings on behalf of all the members of our movement, led by the murabitoun, the mujahideen, and the fighters who remain rooted in the land, holding fast to their path, their weapons, and their resistance.
Gaza, despite the declaration of a ceasefire that began on the ninth of October of last year, continues to be subjected to ongoing aggression and a silent genocide. Killing continues around the clock; hundreds of Palestinians have been killed during this period, thousands have been wounded, aid is blocked, and crossings are closed. Destruction is ongoing, and therefore Gaza needs your support and backing, as does Palestine, all of Palestine.
We also emphasize that in these days, the West Bank, as well as Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa in particular, are facing a fierce and bloody settlement expansion campaign aimed at erasing the Palestinian presence from their land.
Therefore, we pray to God to crown your efforts with success and to guide our path and yours toward freedom and independence, by empowering our Palestinian people with their right to self-determination and return to their land and homes from which they were forcibly displaced. And that is not difficult for God.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
