Workers of the world, and oppressed peoples, unite!
On May 1st, International Workers’ Day, we stand in reverence for every laboring hand, every drop of sweat that pulses with life, and every worker and struggler confronting the capitalist-imperialist system of oppression and exploitation—a system that not only robs us of our sustenance but destroys both humanity and nature, igniting wars for profit and domination.
Today, the working class across the globe pays the price for capitalist savagery, power struggles, and wars—through deepened exploitation, looting of resources, and the assault on the most basic rights: employment, housing, healthcare, public freedoms, and the right to participation.
Workers and the poor among our peoples in the Arab region endure double suffering, as a result of our regimes’ subjugation to the prescriptions of the International Monetary Fund and their role as local agents of global capitalism. On one side, colonialism plunders our resources; on the other, reactionary regimes repress us.
In Palestine, where the confrontation is clearest, workers and resisting peasants are engaged in an existential battle against the Zionist settler-colonial occupation, the spearhead of the imperialist project. The epic of “Al-Aqsa Flood” affirmed the effectiveness of resistance and the fact that it is the popular classes who make history and stand firm in the face of brutal aggression.
Our martyrs and fighters are the sons and daughters of the poor and working class, who confronted the enemy and its Western supporters and prevented it from achieving its objectives—despite the vast disparity in power.
In Yemen, the masses of the poor and working class are at the frontlines in defense of Palestine and the dignity of the Arab nation, in a united battle against imperialism and reaction.
As for Lebanon, its collapse is not fate—it is the result of a sectarian, parasitic, corrupt, and subservient authority, executing foreign agendas and reproducing social misery and systematic looting.
Our people face a form of indirect colonialism that entrenches dependency and imposes sanctions, while the ruling powers continue to crush the poor and strangle what remains of services and rights.
On this day, we salute the workers and laboring poor of Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and the Arab homeland, who confront occupation, repression, and class oppression.
We also salute the workers and laborers around the world, who have taken to the streets in solidarity with Palestine and in rejection of the colonial policies of their governments that support the Zionist enemy.
Salute to the martyrs who fell on the path of national liberation, affirming that Lebanese and Palestinian blood is one in a united struggle.
Salute to the prisoners in the jails of occupation and colonialism—foremost among them the internationalist leader Georges Abdallah, a resister who has never bowed before French imperialism.
Let May 1st be a starting point for the unification of the workers’ struggles and the building of a national and class-based resistance front, for full independence, social justice, and a democratic, civil, and resisting state.
Long live May 1st, the holiday of the working class and the uprising of the peoples.
Glory to the martyrs, long live the unity of national, pan-Arab, and international struggle.
Victory is the ally of the fighting peoples.
