In a symbolic occasion expressing the unity of peoples’ struggles against colonialism and domination, the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party announced the presentation of the 2025 Kwame Ture Black Star of Labor Award to the martyr commander Yahya al-Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim), in recognition of his pioneering role in leading the Palestinian resistance and his heroic defense of the dignity and rights of the Palestinian people in the face of Zionist occupation—especially during the glorious Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

The award was presented during the annual celebration of African Liberation Day, which is marked each year on 25 May 2025  and coincides with the founding anniversary of the Organization of African Unity and serves as a milestone for honoring the struggles of African peoples against colonialism, racism, and dependency. The Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement (Masar Badil) received the award on behalf of the family of the martyr leader Sinwar and his comrades in the resistance.

In the speech delivered on behalf of Masar Badil, the following was stated:

“We are honored to participate and be present at this important event—Africa Liberation Day—and in presenting the Black Star of Labor – Kwame Ture Award, as the trusted party entrusted with the honor of receiving this recognition and delivering it to the family and comrades of the great Palestinian national leader, the martyr Yahya al-Sinwar (Abu Ibrahim).”

The movement affirmed:

“This award affirms the deep and powerful historical relationship between the Palestinian liberation movement and the African liberation movement. Your sacrifices, your martyrs, and your revolutionary leaders have always inspired us—chief among them, of course, Kwame Ture, who was always clear and precise in his position on the Palestinian cause and in his understanding of the relationship between Zionism and imperialism.”

The movement also noted:

“Today we feel doubly proud, as Africa Liberation Day and the awarding of this honor to the great martyr commander Yahya al-Sinwar coincides with the Resistance and Liberation Day in Lebanon, marking the historic victory over the Zionist enemy and the liberation of South Lebanon on 25 May 2000.”

The award bears the name of the great African freedom fighter Kwame Ture, one of the revolutionary leaders who devoted their lives to combating colonialism in the African continent and who stood firmly alongside the Palestinian cause, viewing the struggle against Zionism as an inseparable part of the global fight against colonialism and racial discrimination.

This recognition comes at a historic moment when the voices of peoples supporting Palestine are growing louder, and the battles for liberation intersect—from South Africa to South Lebanon, from Gaza to Mali and Burkina Faso. It sends a message that the revolutionary struggle for freedom is not confined by geography; it is a global human cause, where the blood of martyrs and the sacrifices of the free are united everywhere.

Comrades, as-salam u-aleykum, peace be upon you all.
Revolutionary greetings from your comrades in the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement.

We are honoured to participate and be present at this important event today, African Liberation Day, and the presentation of the Kwame Ture Black Star of Labor Award, as the trusted entity to receive this honor and convey it to the family and the brothers of the great Palestinian national leader, the martyr Yahya Sinwar, Abu Ibrahim.

I am also here to express the greetings from the brothers and sisters of the resistance movement that martyr Sinwar led, not just in Gaza but also in the Zionist prisons, and throughout Palestine, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas. He was a voice of unity, a great fighter who led by example and a leader who was always in frontline of the battle.

This award only affirms the historical and powerful relationship between the Palestinian Liberation Movement and the Black and African Liberation Movement. We have always been inspired by your sacrifices, martyrs, and revolutionary leaders, amongst them, of course, Kwame Ture, who was always precise and clear on the Palestinian cause and the relationship of Zionism and imperialism.

It makes us even prouder to be with you today as we celebrate the Day of Liberation and Resistance here in Lebanon—when, on May 25th, 2000, we achieved the historic victory against the Zionist occupation of south Lebanon. This was the first armed victory against the colony of “Israel” since its establishment in 1948.

Comrades, as you know, the Palestinian people today are facing genocide. In the past 20 months, over 53,000 martyrs have been killed at the hands of the Zionist criminal regime and its war machine. Over 130,000 have been injured. “Israel,” with the backing of the United States and Western imperialism, has waged a war of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza. Despite all Zionist crimes our people will continue the march of the revolution till the end of this colonial settle project, and our land will be free from the river to the sea.

Today we want to express our salutes and thanks to the All-African People’s Revolutionary Party for your commitment. We extend our revolutionary salutes to all of those who are fighting imperialism in the belly of the beast and on the front lines of confrontation. It is necessary to say that the victory and accomplishments of your struggle will be a victory not only for Palestine, but for the entire continent of Africa and the Global South. It will be a victory for humanity.

The Palestinian Liberation Movement and the African Liberation Movement are twins in many ways. Palestinians remember the principled positions of the Black Panthers, of the anti-colonial African revolutionary leaders. We recall the great leader Malcolm X’s visit to Gaza on September 5th, 1964, and the article that he wrote about the struggle of our people in Palestine. This echoes in our hearts and minds as if it were written yesterday. His march towards revolution was carried by Kwame Ture and now it is carried by all of you.

The great Palestinian revolutionary writer, Ghassan Kanafani, said once that Palestine is not only the cause of the Palestinian people, but it is the cause of every revolutionary, of the oppressed and exploited masses of our era. The new Palestinian generation of youth, in Palestine and in the diaspora, see the great brother martyr Yahya Sinwar much like Black and African revolutionaries view Kwame Nkrumah, Sékou Touré and Amílcar Cabral.

Both of our peoples in Palestine and in Africa are struggling against the same enemy. As there is an African diaspora, there is a Palestinian diaspora. And because of our people in exile, we are able to turn this into a powerful arena to build bridges with liberation movements around the world. While our enemy seeks to send us to subjugation, isolation in refugee camps and ghettoes, and destruction, we have made every camp a front of struggle and every arena a place for our liberation movement, whether in the homeland or in the belly of the beast.

There is no better time to be clear in our thoughts and our revolutionary political strategies. The alternative to capitalism is socialism, the alternative to war is peace – with justice, the alternative to oppression is liberation. It is in these times, when the Trump administration is launching new attacks against any efforts to defend African land from colonization, this is akin to the Zionists’ attempts to define themselves as victims. But the world is waking up, it is clear to all that the imperialists and Zionists are the war criminals, the butchers and the enemies of humanity. Africans are playing a leading role in working to hold Zionist war criminals accountable at legal and popular levels.

When the leadership of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza decided to launch the October 7 operation, Toufan al-Aqsa, they said that we are going to change the course of history. They knew that this task requires a clear vision and unbroken commitment to action, revolutionary action. Change, brothers and sisters will only come through revolution. All other options are either futile or compromised.

Africa is changing, with the will of its sons and daughters, to break the chains. And “Israel” that has boasted about their influence over Africa is today being defeated by the revolutionary and conscious movements across the continent. We are about to witness the birth of a new era, where the sun of Africa and the Arab world will rise again.
On behalf of the Masar Badil, and the Palestinian Resistance, we thank you again, we salute you, and together we will defeat imperialism, Zionism, fascism.

Palestine will be free, from the river to the sea.
Our great continent, the Arab and African continent, will be free from coast to coast.
Resistance is no longer a choice – it is a duty. Victory is imminent.
Imperialism and Zionism will be defeated.
