Amid the ongoing massacres faced by our people in Gaza, the genocide and starvation campaign, and in the midst of the political and moral collapse reached by the leadership of the so-called “Palestinian Authority,” Mahmoud Abbas has once again emerged with a call to hold “elections” for the “Palestinian National Council” before the end of 2025 rather than to address the urgent demands of our people. This is a blatant attempt to recycle a dead legitimacy and revive an empty institution that has lost its connection to the people and to the Palestinian national project decades ago.
We in the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement (Masar Badil) categorically reject this call, which comes at a dangerous moment aimed at legitimizing further security coordination, entrenching a collaborationist self-rule authority under occupation, and polishing empty bureaucratic façade at the expense of the blood of the martyrs, the steadfastness of the resistance, and the dignity of our people. The National Council that Mahmoud Abbas calls for does not represent the Palestinian people, neither inside Palestine nor in exile, and it does not reflect the aspirations of generations of the displaced, the dispossessed, and the fighters in the arenas of confrontation, the camps, and the prisons of the Zionist enemy.
The urgent national priority today is not to hold token conferences or polish the image of institutions that have long since lost their legitimacy, but rather to end the starvation and genocide targeting our people in Gaza for nearly two years, to break the brutal siege imposed with regional and international complicity, and to support the heroic Palestinian resistance that embodies the unity of our people and its iron will in confrontation and steadfastness. Every national effort must now be dedicated to protecting our people from extermination and ethnic cleansing, not to reproducing a corrupt elite managing projects of coordination and cooperation with the enemy entity.
Our Palestinian people, through their bitter experience, understand that this sham “council” has been turned by the dominant leadership into a tool to entrench surrender, corruption, and monopoly, rather than being a parliament of revolution and resistance and a voice for all our people throughout occupied Palestine and across the Palestinian diaspora. Any attempt to hold sham “elections” for this council is a form of political deception—a farcical play that our people will reject and that represents only its organizers and their funders. Anyone who participates in this crime under the cover of “elections” is nothing more than a prop and a tool for liquidation. Half-measures in politics, in a time of genocide, have become actual and public participation in the slaughter of our people and in covering up the U.S.-Zionist crime.
We believe that restoring Palestinian national unity and institutions does not come through renewing the legitimacy of the Oslo Authority, but through rebuilding the national project from its roots, dismantling the system of security coordination, dependency, and corruption, and taking a decisive stand in favor of the path of resistance, liberation, and return.
We call on all active forces, popular movements, and Palestinian resistance everywhere to declare a clear and firm rejection of this call, and to work towards building an alternative: the unified national front, led by the resistance, representing the voice of the popular majority, and paving the way for true unity built on a program of struggle, not on superficial reconciliation deals or seasonal summons from above.
No legitimacy for those who justify security coordination with the enemy and suppress the resistance!
No representation for those who have abandoned the right of return, and no legitimacy for those who helped starve Gaza!
Together towards building a unified Palestinian national front on the path of liberation and return!
