Seattle – Washington
Seattle, Washington witnessed a mass demonstration organized by the Nidal movement and a number of allied forces in the city, in protest against the policies of starvation and genocide targeting the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip. The demonstration came in the context of a growing international campaign supporting the resistance and demanding the expulsion of U.S. military bases from the Arab region and West Asia.
Protesters raised the flags of Palestine, Yemen, Iran, and Lebanon, alongside slogans denouncing U.S. support for the Zionist entity and holding Washington directly responsible for the ongoing massacres and aggression. The slogans also linked policies of racism, exploitation and domestic repression in the United States with global imperialist projects, especially in the region.
In her speech during the demonstration, comrade Bissan Barghouthi, a member of the Executive Committee of the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement and coordinator of Nidal Seattle, declared:
“We will take this rage and direct it at all those complicit in genocide,” emphasizing that “this rage will continue to burn until the American colonial bases are expelled from our land, the Zionist entity is uprooted, all prisoners are freed, and our entire land is liberated, from the river to the sea.”
Organizers affirmed that this demonstration is part of a series of solidarity events with the Arab and Muslim peoples, especially the resistance camp in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran. It is part of a broad international mobilization aiming to dismantle the U.S. military infrastructure used to perpetuate colonialism and wars in the region.
The event saw wide participation from anti-imperialist and anti-racist forces, with participants expressing their commitment to continuing the struggle against imperialism and Zionism and calling for comprehensive justice that connects liberation struggles in the Global South with the movements of the peoples on Turtle Island.
