The Palestinian Arab Cultural Club expressed its condemnation of the decision issued by the Belgian authorities to revoke the residency rights of Palestinian organizer Mohammed Khatib, considering this unjust step as targeting Palestinian refugees and all supporters of the Palestinian cause.
In a statement issued from the refugee camps in Lebanon, the Club explained that the decision comes in the context of systematic policies to silence the Palestinian voice in places of refuge, at a time when massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank are ongoing, and when defenders of Palestinian rights are subjected to campaigns of harassment and threats that undermine their right to expression and legitimate action.
The Club affirmed its full solidarity with Mohammed Khatib and with all those subjected to persecution because of their positions in support of Palestine and in rejection of injustice, demanding the immediate reversal of the decision. It also called on human rights institutions, solidarity movements, Arab and Palestinian communities, and the masses of the camps to take effective action to pressure for the protection of activists defending the Palestinian cause and just causes.
The Palestinian Arab Cultural Club stressed that “the Palestinian cause will not be silenced, and its voice will remain present everywhere, no matter how intense the attempts at repression and restriction.”
