The joint leadership of the Arab Socialist Labor Party – Lebanon, and the Popular Democratic Party condemns the Belgian government’s decision to withdraw the residency rights of Comrade Mohammed Khatib, member of the Executive Committee of the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, and coordinator of the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network in Europe.
This unjust decision clearly exposes the Belgian government’s alignment with the camp hostile to the Palestinian people, at a time when our people are being subjected to a comprehensive genocide aimed at eradicating their presence and survival on what remains of their liberated land, as a result of their steadfastness and resistance to attempts at uprooting and displacement.
The decision comes as Palestinian prisoners, children, women, and men, endure in the prisons of Zionist Nazism the harshest forms of torture, medical neglect, and systematic killing, with the number of martyrs behind bars growing.
The withdrawal of residency from Comrade Mohammed Khatib constitutes a political cover that facilitates the Zionist enemy’s physical targeting of him. We hold the Belgian government fully responsible for his safety and his life, and consider it a partner in any harm that may befall him.
We call on all progressive and revolutionary leftist forces, human rights and trade union organizations, and solidarity movements worldwide to raise their voices loudly in rejecting this decision, to consider it part of the global struggle in defense of the Palestinian people, the rights of refugees, migrants, and Indigenous peoples, and to pressure the Belgian government to immediately reverse its decision.
