Under the auspices of the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movementand the Anti-Imperialist Front in Greece, and on the occasion of the first anniversary of the martyrdom of the historic and exceptional leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, a political seminar was convened in the Greek capital, Athens.

The event was organized by a number of people’s and women’s organizations, including Alkarama Palestinian Women’s Movement. the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, and the Anti-Imperialist Front of Greece. The hall was adorned with the flags of Yemen, Palestine, and Lebanon, and with the banners and slogans of the Palestinian, Lebanese, and Yemeni resistance.

Speakers at the seminar included:

  • Jaldia Abubakra – Alkarama Palestinian Women’s Movement

  • Konstantina Kartsioiti – Anti-Imperialist Front, Greece.

  • Charlotte Kates – International Coordinator of Samidoun and Deputy Secretary-General of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers. (She spoke via video after being barred from entering Greece, in obedience to a German government decision.)

  • Mohammad al-Khatib – European Coordinator of Samidoun.

The seminar, held under the slogan “Glory to the Martyrs, Victory to the Resistance,” reflected on the meaning of commemorating the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, coinciding with the anniversary of the outbreak of the popular armed Palestinian Intifada of 2000 (the Al-Aqsa Intifada). It emphasized the necessity of strengthening the role and unity of revolutionary movements, both on the ground and politically, in confronting the joint Zionist-American threat facing both the Arab region and Greece.

The seminar further stressed the need to build a broad front to confront imperialism, Zionism, and fascism; to support the resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen; and to reinforce the global popular embrace of the Arab resistance, from the heart of Europe and the imperial core.
