Comrade Jaldia Abubakra, a member of the Executive Committee of the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, delivered a political lecture in the city of Melilla, Spain under the title “Peace or Surrender,” at the invitation of the Intercultura Association. The event was attended by a wide audience of nearly 90 participants and evolved into a space for political discussion and renewing commitment to the struggle of the Palestinian people.
During her presentation, Jaldia Abubakra addressed the so-called “peace” projects put forward by the United States and imperialist powers, affirming that they are nothing more than a political trap designed to fragment international solidarity and grant legitimacy to the continued Zionist colonial project. She situated these initiatives in their true context, amid more than two years of massacres and genocide in Gaza, the accelerating expansion of colonial settlement, daily repression and persecution in the West Bank, and ongoing attempts to impose political surrender on the Palestinian people.
The comrade stressed that these projects do not seek a just solution, but rather aim to empty Gaza, fragment the West Bank, and complete the expulsion of the Palestinian people from their land, using the discourse of “peace” as a cover for policies of ethnic cleansing, plunder, and normalization with genocide. She also condemned the role played by Western media in stripping Palestinian victims of their humanity and constructing narratives that justify and legitimize the crimes of the occupation.
Abubakra emphasized that the colonization of Palestine was planned and organized by the West, whereby the Palestinian people were made to bear the consequences of Europe’s post–World War II crisis, without any regard for their rights or their will. She pointed to the direct responsibility of imperialist powers for the existing reality, criticizing fraudulent diplomatic solutions that ignore the right to self-determination, the right of return, and the liberation of all of Palestine.
She further warned against attempts to profiteer from the destruction of Gaza through economic projects linked to so-called “peace” plans, as well as the organized assault on the refugee question and their right of return. She affirmed that targeting these rights is not a technical matter, but an integral part of a project aimed at liquidating the refugee cause and erasing the right of return from both consciousness and reality.
Abubakra issued a direct appeal to solidarity movements, warning against falling into the deception of false negotiation-based solutions, and calling for the continuation of popular mobilization, political pressure, and concrete support for the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people in all its forms. She stressed that there can be no peace without justice, and that any project not grounded in liberation, return, and full sovereignty is nothing but an imposed formula of surrender.
Following the lecture, the floor was opened for discussion and questions, during which the comrade addressed interventions from the audience, touching on the role of Palestinians in exile and diaspora, the responsibility of the peoples of the world, and the importance of building effective and organized solidarity in the face of normalization policies and attempts to impose facts on the ground.
The event concluded with a tribute from the Intercultura Association honoring Jaldia Abubakra’s long-standing militant trajectory and her commitment to the Palestinian cause. This lecture in Melilla comes as part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Masar Badil to break the political and media siege, deepen critical consciousness, and reaffirm that no colonial project endures, and that the Palestinian people will continue their struggle until the complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.
