On the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Sheikh Khader Adnan, the Masar Badil, the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, commemorated this towering figure of struggle, a leading revolutionary symbol in the resistance movement and one of the most prominent figures who embodied the battle of will against imprisonment and the jailer.

The movement affirmed that the martyrdom of Sheikh Khader Adnan was not a passing event, but a pivotal moment that brought renewed attention to the prisoners’ struggle and the pioneering role he played in transforming his body into an instrument of resistance, and his hunger strike into a political and moral weapon that confounded the Zionist system of oppression and exposed it to the world.

It emphasized that the dangerous escalation faced by prisoners today, and the attempts to impose ever harsher and more brutal policies, including the death penalty against them, reflect the occupation’s shift to more bloody phases in its genocidal targeting of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement, amidst a suspicious and, indeed, complicit international and Arab silence that falls far short of addressing the magnitude of the crimes committed.

The movement added that the struggles of prisoners in Palestine are not isolated, but rather constitute a vital part of a global struggle waged by peoples and political prisoners around the world against oppression, colonialism, and subservient regimes. From the cells of the occupation to the prisons of despotic regimes, and from liberation movements in Latin America to Africa, Asia, and Ireland, prisoners and freedom fighters behind bars have remained a steadfast vanguard in the face of injustice, transforming prison into a space of resistance and resilience, affirming that free will is capable of breaking chains, no matter how severe the tools of oppression.

It also emphasized that the prisoners’ cause will remain at the forefront of our people’s priorities and those of our resistance forces, and that commemorating the martyrs, foremost among them Sheikh Khader Adnan, is a renewed act of struggle that reaffirms the compass towards liberation and strengthens the unity of our stance against the colonial project.
