Mohammed Hashishu, General Secretary of the Popular Democratic Party of Lebanon, sent the following solidarity statement and video (above) to the Masar Badil, Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, in São Paulo, Brazil, with the English text below:
Comrades in the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement, our party, the Lebanese Popular Democratic Party, extends its greetings. As a partner of the Palestinian movement in its revolutionary struggle, we send from your conference in South America our sincere wishes for its success and that it may strengthen its role and influence across Latin America and the world.
Comrades, we are living through a global imperialist war. It directly targets the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon, yet it is also a continuation of imperialist wars against our peoples, our homelands, and our future: a colonial war in which genocide has become its ideological and practical core. It reflects the inability of colonial powers to subdue peoples and drag them into surrender. The Palestinian people stand as a model of people’s resistance.
What you are doing, comrades, especially in organizing our people in the diaspora, mobilizing global support for their national cause, raising awareness, and exposing the nature of the Zionist enemy as settler-colonial fascism, constitutes a full front in the open confrontation against the camp of hostility. It is no less important than the fronts on the battlefield. History has taught us that liberation movements and fighting peoples are not defeated; defeat occurs in only one case: surrender. And that is not in the revolutionaries’ dictionary. History has also taught us that the cost of surrender is far higher than the cost of resistance.
Comrades from resistant Lebanon, the twin of revolutionary Palestine, from the arena of direct and comprehensive confrontation: this Lebanon is facing two simultaneous aggressions — the imperialist Zionist aggression aimed at crushing and eliminating the resistance, subjugating the people, and occupying the land; and aggression from Lebanon’s sectarian political system, a system of dependency and submission to the will of colonial powers, which seeks to besiege the resistance in order to eliminate it and attacks the lives of Lebanese citizens through brutal economic and social policies designed to weaken our people’s ability to confront and endure.
Despite all this, we tell you that our resistance is strong and our people are well, thanks to the sacrifices of the working masses, the pain of the displaced, the loss of loved ones, and the bravery of families. Once the dust of this round of conflict settles, our region will not be the same as it was before: specifically, it will not be as it was before October 7. We are confident that imperial hegemony will be weaker, the Zionist entity more fragile, and Arab reactionary forces more bankrupt. These rounds of struggle will stand as an inspiring revolutionary model for the struggles of peoples, especially in the Global South, for their national and class liberation.
What is to be done? As an international revolutionary force, we must shoulder our historic responsibilities and carry out the urgent tasks before us, starting on the ground for those who are able to take part: organizing the masses, raising their awareness, mobilizing international solidarity, and engaging across the social, environmental, and cultural fronts.
How? By advancing relations among revolutionary forces from a stage of cooperation and coordination to forming an international revolutionary front. This task rests first and foremost with you, comrades of the Masar Badil, because you enjoy the trust of revolutionaries and because of your growing role in solidarity actions and broad networking with forces working for the liberation of the homeland.
All comradely wishes for the success of your conference in these critical moments. Salute to the women and men activists in the Masar. Appreciation to the international solidarity movements in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and across Europe and North America. Freedom for the Lebanese and Palestinian prisoners in the prisons of Zionist fascism. Glory to the martyrs of the forces of resistance and revolution in Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran. We bow before the legendary bravery of the fighters on every front of confrontation, and victory will stand with the fighting peoples.
